Bhat Jul was a Nikto Jedi of the Old Republic and served the Order during the Clone Wars. Of the Kajain'sa'Nikto species, Bhat Jul was apprenticed to Tusken Jedi Master A'Sharad Hett, a wise pairing considering the two Jedi's association with the desert. Traveling wherever the Jedi were needed and wherever the Jedi Council sent them, Bhat Jul and Master Hett traveled across the galaxy to places such as Metalorn, New Holstice, and Aargonar.

On Metalorn, Bhat Jul and his master were instrumental in the taking of the planet from the Separatists. After Metalorn fell, the Nikto and Tusken Jedi found themselves on New Holstice in between assignments. New Holstice served as a Republic medical center during the war and any Jedi presence was helpful in the healing of the wounded. There the two joined other wayward Jedi such as Anakin Skywalker and Barriss Offee attending not just to clone soldiers, but even to other Jedi such as Sora Mobari.

After New Holstice, Bhat Jul found himself serving alongside A'Sharad Hett as he commanded the forces on Aargonar. Normally an unimportant planet, it had become a battleground simply because of the fact that it fell into Confederacy territory. On Aargonar, Bhat Jul and A'Sharad Hett were joined by Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker, Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Bultar Swan. At the beginning of the battle, A'Sharad commanded the battle from his gunship until it was shot down, stranding himself, Bhat Jul, and Anakin Skywalker behind enemy lines and cut off from the rest of the Republic forces.
